AHGW Groundwater Analyst - Wells and Time Series

Arc Hydro Groundwater (AHGW) is a geodatabase design for representing groundwater datasets within ArcGIS. The data model helps to archive, display, and analyze multidimensional groundwater data, and includes several components to represent different types of datasets, including representations of aquifers and wells/boreholes, 3D hydrogeologic models, temporal information, and data from simulation models. The Arc Hydro Groundwater Tools help to import, edit, and manage groundwater data stored in an AHGW geodatabase.

In this exercise, we will be using the Groundwater Analyst Toolkit to import a set of well data from Lubbock County in Texas. We will generate several types of maps and time series plots using the data in ArcGIS.

Do the following:

1) Go to the Aquaveo tutorial website:

http://www.aquaveo.com/software/ahgw-learning-tutorials

2) Download and unzip the the zip archive associated with the Wells and Time Series tutorial exercise. This will be used as the starting point for our exercise.

3) Download and open the PDF file associated with the Wells and Time Series tutorial exercise.

4) Launch ArcMap and follow the instructions in the tutorial.

Note: After launching ArcMap on the CAEDM network, you should do the following after opening the map file at the beginning of the tutorial:

a) Select the File|Map Document Properties... command.

b) Click on the browse button next to the Default Geodatabase field and change the path to the geodatabase associated with the map file on your local drive. This will speed up the performance of ArcMap.
